Project DescriptionSometimes a key factor in raising one's work above others is the inclusion a different medium. In this case we will be substituting our canvas for a wood panel. This will be highlighted through how you choose to reveal the wood through the negative space in your painting.
In this project you will focus on creating an interesting design that incoperates the wood panel. Negative space in a well developed work of art is more than just the space that doesn't have something painted in it. It should still contribute to the painted regions of your work, sometimes defining the design. You will learn how to prepare the wood to be painted on as well as the best practices for painting on it. CriteriaWood Panel- 5:The wood is sanded down on all edges and both sides.
Design- 15: The painting is well composed with an interesting design. Negative Space- 5: Negative space is used effectively in the painting that reveals the wood beneath. Painting- 10: The painting is made skillfully with proper painting techniques. Clean- 5: The overal painting and is done carefully with consideration. Especially the edges between the painting and revealed wood. |
