Project DescriptionWhether it is a character for a children's book, an animated series, a video game or even a fashion design, character design plays a crucial role in many fields of art. People make many decisions based off of their initial response of what they see. You want to learn to use this by designing your character's appearance to mold how you want the audience to see the character. Will they see your design as the stunning beauty, a villainous monster, as historically accurate, or as comic relief?
In this project you will design and explore a variety of different methods of fleshing out an original character. You will be creating a head chart and turn around to consolidate the proportions of your character in graphite on illustration paper. You will explore the variety and consistency of your character through creating an expression chart of nine expressions. That will also be done with graphite and illustration paper. Lastly you will use watercolor to paint a gestures and details page to show how your character moves and acts as well as what is unique aspects to their design.
