Project DescriptionValue in the literary sense refers to something of great importance. Each of us has attributes and traits that we value, such as strength, beauty, innovative, caring or having a good sense of humor. Equally we tend to model ourselves after others that represent such values.
In art value as a different meaning. It deals with shadows and how we deal with lights and darks. Understanding value is essential to composing a realistic drawing because it is used to make an object look like it has volume instead of only being restricted to the 2 dimensional surface that it lays on. That is why value is one of the essential Elements of Art. In this assignment, students will research an endangered animal to create a portrait of. They will work subtractively removing away the dark upper layer to reveal the while layer beneath. In this way they will give a face to the struggling species of our planet. Below is the slide show of the process, and below that is the student gallery. Click on the gallery image to make it larger. |
